YOGA AND AGING
We all know that as our bodies age we lose strength, flexibility and endurance. Beginning a simple practice of yoga will allow you to regain a portion of these things, and will slow down the aging process. Simply put, use it or lose it.
As our bodies age our cell regeneration slows. We produce less of the fluids that keep our joints moving. Wear and tear in the joints causes pain and inflammation, and the less you use a joint, the more painful and immovable it becomes. Yoga will gently ease your joints open, allowing your natural body fluids to lubricate areas that are stiff and sore. This builds mobility. Using the weight of our bodies to hold ourselves in various postures builds strength, which can help us to regain lost or impaired function.
